American Collection
The United States Information Services (USIS), that is the former library of the Embassy of the United States holds app. 30,000 volumes of books and 2,000 video cassettes and is available to the teachers and students of the Institute free of charge and to external readers against a depository fee.
Membership and borrowing rights:
- teachers and students of the English-American Institute: free of charge (copies from the American Collection are counted in the maximum number of books to be borrowed)
- teachers, students and employees of ELTE: free of charge (maximum 3 books at one time)
- external readers: depository fee of HUF 3000 (maximum 3 books at one time)
The books and video cassettes of the collection may be searched in the library’s electronic catalogue and may be requested from the warehouse by filling out a request form. Video cassettes may only be borrowed by the teachers of the English-American Institute or with an authorization from the teacher for each casette borrowed, exclusively for teaching purposes Reference books marked with the letter “R” may not be borrowed.
