us
The teaching of the Hungarian literature dates back to the end of the 19. century in the frame of the modern philological seminary. The cradle of the literature library was made up of a collection of reference library in majority of positivistic spirit. This spiritual trend was dominated until the and the year of the turn, 1947. During the 1950s the approach of the book stock could be considered of general education one, without foreign literature. From the 1990s the libraries of the university obtained finantial support nearly regular that ’s why the literature library could dedicate sourches for enreach its stock of the reference library , for binding its valuable periodicals and for developing its computer fleet. In 1997 was started the electronic cataloguisation of the thesis, dissertations made in Hungarian literature written from the 19.century. In 2003 the majority of the book stock of the College of Politic Studies closed down was transferred to the Literature Library. This year the Library assumed the name of Ferenc Toldy, a late lecturer of the university.
The librarians of the Literature Library near the reference activity enthusiastically take part in the literary and bibliographic researches, and in organising exhibitions.
The book stock of the library actually is about 80--100.000 items. Its collection field consist of first of all Hungarian and foreign belles- lettres and history of literature , literary criticism. It collects also reference books, monographs of the related sciences of humanities. The collection of the periodicals related the Hungarian literature is very reach.
The library could be used by every enrolled citizen of the university. The ELTE lecturers and PhD students have the possibility also to borrow documents.

Vodkát nem tartunk a könyvtárban, de például az Egyetemi Könyvtár közelében számos vendéglátóhely található. :)
Tisztelt Könyvtár Szolgálat! A SciFinder adatbázis elérésével kapcsolatban érdeklődöm. Egyetemi hálózatról próbáltam belépni, a bejelentkezéshez caesar azonosítót és jelszót megadva, de nem működött. Hogy tudnám a legegyszerűbben elérni az adatbázist?

Yes, you can use our library and the services free with a visitor's pass which you can get to information desk on ground floor.
